A range of chemical processes, reactions and calculations. The chemical nature of materials is studied in Units 1 & 2. Unit 3 focuses on the work of chemists, introducing analytical techniques and the production of some important chemicals. Unit 4 examines the relationship between the production and use of energy in non-living and living systems. |
Perform calculations. Complete Practicals and reports. Weekly assignments. Outcomes are mainly practicals with questions, answered as an open book test. One open book report per semester. |
“Chemistry moves with a consistent, steady pace. It is sequential through Units 1 – 4. Chemistry is a pre-requisite for many science courses at Uni. You need to be comfortable with basic mathematical equations, manipulations and ratios. Chemistry is good because it makes you think about what makes the world go round, it has relevance to everyday life.” |
